1. What Information We Collect

Account Information:

• Email address
• Name
• Password (encrypted - we never see it)

If you sign in with Google:

• Your Google email and name
• We don't get your Google password

Usage Information:

• Your LCA queries and searches
• How many queries you've used
• When you use the service
• Features you interact with

Ecoinvent Credentials:

• We store your Ecoinvent username to access the database on your behalf
• We do NOT store your Ecoinvent password
• Your password is only used temporarily during authentication
• After verification, your password is immediately discarded

Technical Information:

• IP address (for security)

2. AI Data & Enterprise Processing (Microsoft Azure)

We process your queries using a dedicated, enterprise-grade Microsoft Azure deployment located strictly in Germany. When you submit queries:

• Strict EU Data Residency: Your data is processed entirely within Germany and never leaves the European Union at any time.
• Zero Training Policy: Your data is never used to train, retrain, or improve foundational AI models. Period.
• Anonymity: Your personal identity (name, email) is completely stripped and never sent to the AI processing infrastructure.
• Enterprise Security: Our Azure deployment adheres to strict SOC2 and ISO compliance standards, ensuring enterprise-grade security and isolation from public AI models.

Private Mode:

• EcoAgent Storage: Private mode data is stored with EcoAgent for a maximum of 7 days strictly for monitoring purposes only, after which it is deleted automatically.
• Azure Storage: This data for private mode is then automatically and permanently deleted at Azure servers after 30 days.

3. How We Use Your Information

To run the service:

• Let you log in and use EcoAgent
• Process your LCA queries
• Track your monthly usage limit
• Send you important service updates

To improve EcoAgent & LCA Data:

• Understand how people use the tool
• Fix bugs and improve features
• Anonymized Trends: We may use strictly anonymized, aggregated query trends to help improve life cycle assessment databases (including sharing this anonymized data with partners like Ecoinvent). This data cannot be linked back to any user.

To keep things secure:

• Prevent abuse and spam
• Protect against hackers
• Detect unusual activity

4. Who We Share Data With

We share data with:

• Google (if you use Google sign-in): For authentication only
• Hosting provider: To run the servers (data encrypted)
• Email service: To send you notifications

5. Your Privacy Rights

You can:

• See your data: Request a copy of everything we have
• Fix your data: Update your account information anytime
• Delete your data: Close your account and we'll delete your info
• Export your data: Get your data in a portable format
• Stop emails: Unsubscribe from non-essential emails

6. How We Protect Your Data

• Encryption: Your data is encrypted when stored and transmitted
• Secure passwords: We use industry-standard strong hashing (never store passwords in plain text)
• Limited access: Only authorized team members can access data
• Regular monitoring: We watch for security threats
• Security updates: We keep everything up to date

7. How Long We Keep Your Data

• Active accounts: We keep your data while you use EcoAgent
• Closed accounts: Deleted within 90 days
• Backups: Cleared within 90 days of account deletion
• Legal requirements: Some data kept longer if required by law

8. Cookies

We use cookies to:

• Keep you logged in
• Remember your preferences
• Understand how the site is used
• Keep the service secure

You can disable cookies in your browser, but some features won't work.

9. Third-Party Services

Google OAuth: If you sign in with Google, review their privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy

LCA Databases: We query Ecoinvent and other databases for LCA data:

• We store your Ecoinvent username to access the database on your behalf
• Your Ecoinvent password is NEVER stored - only used during verification
• Your personal information (name, email) is not shared with database providers. We only share fully anonymized, aggregated query trends to help them improve their databases.

10. International Users

Your data may be processed outside your country. We ensure it's protected no matter where it's processed.

11. Children's Privacy

EcoAgent is not for children under 16. If you're under 16, please don't create an account.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as we add features. If we make big changes:

• We'll email you
• We'll update the date at the top
• We'll give you time to review changes

13. Data Breaches

If there's ever a security breach affecting your data:

• We'll notify you within 72 hours
• We'll explain what happened
• We'll tell you what we're doing about it

1. Using EcoAgent

EcoAgent is an AI assistant for Life Cycle Assessment and Carbon Accounting. We provide:

• Ecoinvent database searches
• Biosphere flows analysis
• Carbon impact calculations
• Interactive visualizations
• 50 free queries per month

2. Your Account

When you create an account:

• Provide accurate information
• Keep your password secure
• You're responsible for all activity on your account
• Don't share your account with others

3. Acceptable Use

You can:

• Use EcoAgent for LCA research and analysis
• Use it for personal or commercial projects
• Use it for educational purposes

Please don't:

• Try to break or abuse the service
• Use it for illegal activities
• Share your account credentials
• Attempt to copy or scrape our technology
• Overwhelm our systems with excessive requests

4. The Service

We provide EcoAgent "as is" and we're constantly improving it. This means:

• We don't guarantee 100% uptime (but we try our best!)
• Results should be verified for critical decisions
• We're not responsible for decisions you make based on the data
• Features may change as we develop the product

5. Your Data

Simple version:

• We collect what we need to run the service (see our Privacy Policy above)
• We don't sell your data
• You can delete your account anytime
• We keep your data secure

6. Intellectual Property

• We own EcoAgent and all its features
• You retain ownership of your input data
• We access third-party databases (like Ecoinvent) under their terms

7. Limitation of Liability

We're building EcoAgent to be helpful, but:

• We're not liable for any damages from using the service
• LCA results should be independently verified
• We don't provide professional consulting or regulatory advice
• Use the service at your own risk for critical applications

8. Changes to These Terms

As we grow, we may update these terms. If we do:

• We'll email you about important changes
• We'll update the date at the top
• Continuing to use EcoAgent means you accept the new terms

9. Account Termination

Either of us can end this agreement:

• You can delete your account anytime
• We can suspend accounts that violate these terms
• We'll try to give you notice when possible
